Hungary’s new Prime Minister-elect, Péter Magyar
Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party has informed in a post on his social media account that current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had called him to congratulate to his victory at the 2026 Hungarian parliamentary elections.

According to early results, the Tisza party has won with a landslide across the country. After 4 consecutive terms in government, and after 16 years, Fidesz and their junior partners, KDNP, will go into opposition.
Péter Magyar thanked his voters in a post-election speech and called the day a celebration of democracy. He said that his team has received thousands of reports of alleged electoral fraud, and threatened alleged perpetrators with prison. With a marked lack of magnanimity he also accused the previous government of winning earlier elections through vote buying. He has accused the current government of preparing provocations after his party’s win, but he has called for calm among his supporters.
Fidesz are currently polling at a distant second place with less than half the amount of mandates as compared to Tisza, while the nationalist Our Homeland movement is also expected to make it across the parliamentary threshold.
