The opening date of Hungary’s and the region’s largest gastronomic and cultural market has been announced. Time Out Market Budapest will open its doors in mid-September, and the full list of restaurants is now available.
The first Time Out Market to open in Central and Eastern Europe, Budapest’s Time Out Market will be home to eleven award-winning and up-and-coming restaurants, three bars, five event venues, and approximately 540 seats. The official opening date has been announced: foodies are welcome at Corvin Palace (located in Blaha Lujza Square) from 11:30 a.m. on September 20. From then on, the food market will be open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The campaign accompanying the launch of Time Out Market Budapest featured iconic historical figures and contemporary artists from the capital. Today, the last four gastronomic players were revealed, completing the lineup of Time Out Market Budapest.
Behind the M’EAT – antipasti & grill concept is chef Jenő Rácz, whose Michelin-starred restaurant and professional experience guarantee outstanding quality. He draws inspiration from the light, lively atmosphere of Spanish and Portuguese tapas bars, while offering the finest Hungarian cold cuts and cheeses. The menu focuses on selected Hungarian meats, artisanal hams, and salamis, which are freshly sliced on site. The selection also includes specialties such as homemade pâté and cooked goose liver with homemade jam and fresh brioche.
LIRA by Essencia Restaurant is a new concept from the Michelin-starred Essencia team in Budapest, based on clean, distinctive flavors and quality ingredients. LIRA, named after chef Tiago Sabarigo and sous chef Miguel Diniz, appeals to guests who want to experience high-end gastronomy in a more informal yet sophisticated setting. The dishes on the menu—such as beefsteak tartare with oyster emulsion, homemade tagliatelle with black mussels and smoked seaweed butter, or almond cake with gorgonzola ice cream—were all created especially for Time Out Market Budapest.
The story of Hai Nam Pho began in the early 2000s in the 8th district as a family business – and now they are returning to where it all began, joining Time Out Market Budapest with authentic Vietnamese flavors. Hai Nam’s new unit was conceived by Vo Son Hai and his brother Nam, second-generation Vietnamese Hungarians. Their dishes are made from local ingredients, including their own homemade noodles, paying homage to their gastronomic heritage.
Absolut Vodka, one of the world’s best-known premium spirits brands, is introducing itself in a new form: from now on, those interested can experience the distinctive Absolut flavor profile at its own cocktail bar within the walls of Time Out Market Budapest. The Absolut Bar embodies the brand’s Born to Mix philosophy, which celebrates the coming together of people, ideas, cultures and, of course, cocktails.
