Efforts toward peace and the negotiation process initiated by President Trump must continue, the Prime Minister wrote in a Facebook post published after Thursday’s cabinet meeting.
Viktor Orbán wrote that today’s government meeting reviewed the consequences of the Russian missile attack on Mukachevo (Munkács).
I instructed the Minister of the Interior to prepare the hospitals in Debrecen and Nyíregyháza to receive the wounded. Thank God it was not necessary,”
he added.
The prime minister said that Foreign Affairs Minister Péter Szijjártó had consulted with representatives of the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia (Ukraine), to whom he also offered the Hungarian government’s assistance.

“Efforts toward peace and the negotiation process initiated by President Trump must continue. Only peace!” Viktor Orbán concluded his post.
On August 21 Russia launched a massive aerial assault involving drones and missiles, including a strike on Mukachevo (Munkács) in western Ukraine. The missile strike targeted a U.S.-owned Flex electronics factory, located in Mukachevo’s industrial area. At the time of the attack, around 600 workers were on site, but because they were swiftly evacuated into underground shelters, a mass casualty event was avoided. Nevertheless, 15 to 19 people were injured, and the strike ignited a massive fire spanning approximately 7,000 square meters.
