Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s League party, praised the outgoing Hungarian prime minister at Saturday’s rally of the Patriots for Europe party family in Milan’s Duomo Square.
At the gathering titled “Without Fear, We Are the Hosts of Europe,” Matteo Salvini—speaking on behalf of those gathered—sent his greetings to Viktor Orbán, whom he called a friend and a patriot.
“Patriots form a community in which, if someone finds themselves in a difficult situation, thousands of friends come to their aid.
Viktor Orbán defended the borders and fought against human and arms traffickers. Let us all continue the fight for freedom and the rule of law together!”
he said.
The leader stated: In Europe, the Patriots for Europe party family is the sole and true opponent of the Brussels bureaucrats, who “serve businesspeople and warmongers.”
“The patriots represent the only hope for our young people and workers, who are fighting against absurd European rules” said Matteo Salvini.
He emphasized that the patriots reject European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s “brilliant plan” to resolve the energy crisis by restricting people from leaving their homes.
“We have no intention of closing schools and factories and forcing our workers to stay home,” said the Italian politician.
His message to immigrants was: “After I opened the doors of my home to you, provided you with education and free healthcare, gave you benefits here and there, and welcomed everyone—if you commit a crime, you will be sent back nicely to where you came from.”
Delegations from Patriots for Europe from Spain, Greece, Estonia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary attended the meeting.
