Panoramic view of Kőröshegy
The leadership of Kőröshegy, known as the southern gateway to Lake Balaton, has decided to preserve the village’s original character. Based on a decision by the local government, agricultural garden plots can no longer be reclassified for non-farming use, as pointed out in an article by Világgazdaság.
Despite the beautiful view of Lake Balaton, they want to see well-tended vineyards and orchards on the hillside, not holiday homes springing up everywhere.
Kőröshegy’s hillside agricultural plots are classified as first-class vineyard land, and the village is part of the Balatonboglár wine region.

They do not want the area to be transformed into a noisy resort zone because of the panorama.
The article highlights that Kőröshegy is a developing settlement where the population is growing both statistically and in reality. Nevertheless, they see the villages around Budapest as a cautionary example, where a sudden population explosion has made the area unlivable.
