In a video, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, called on NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte not to make “warmongering statements,” responding to Rutte’s speech in Kyiv.
“We call on the NATO Secretary General not to make warmongering statements!” the foreign minister began his speech, recalling that when the war began, NATO countries decided not to be part of the conflict and that everything must be done to ensure that the alliance does not become involved in the future.
The NATO Secretary General’s statement in Kyiv is contrary to NATO’s current decisions. This is outrageous and scandalous,”
FM Szijjártó said.
“We therefore call on the NATO Secretary General to refrain from making pro-war statements and to abide by the decisions taken by NATO’s highest decision-making body, the North Atlantic Council. Thus we ask Mark Rutte to respect NATO’s previous decision, not to represent a warmongering position, and not to deepen tensions.”
I think the most important thing is to support the Americans’ efforts for peace, because this is the only hope for peace in Ukraine as soon as possible,”
the foreign minister added.
As hirado.hu reported, two days ago Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the NATO Secretary General in Kyiv, who also gave a speech in the Ukrainian parliament. He emphasized that the military alliance supports Ukraine and that European forces will be present on land, sea, and air in Ukraine. He concluded his speech with the words “Slava Ukrayini,” meaning “Glory to Ukraine.”
