Viktor Orbán backed Alice Weidel after the AfD chairwoman demanded compensation from Ukraine for the destruction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline and German subsidies amounting to tens of billions of euros.
Prime Minister Orbán responded to the German politician’s statement with a short but clear sentence:
Alice Weidel is right!”
The prime minister was referring to the speech by the parliamentary group leader and co-chair of Alternative for Germany (AfD/Alternative für Germany), in which she demanded compensation from Ukraine and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As reported by hirado.hu, Alice Weidel announced that
if her party came to power, it would demand compensation for blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipeline and reclaim the approximately €70 billion in financial and military aid granted to Kyiv.
She explained that Germany had spent enormous sums of money on supporting Ukraine, which the AfD considered essential to repay.
“We will demand compensation. The Ukrainians and Zelensky must pay us for blowing up our pipeline. The country that did this to us cannot be our friend, and that must be publicly acknowledged,” Weidel said, stressing that Ukraine cannot be considered a friendly state.
The AfD chairwoman stated that Germany has made considerable financial and political sacrifices in the conflict with Russia, while its own interests have been pushed into the background. The recovery of tens of billions of euros in subsidies and the restoration of the Nord Stream pipeline are inevitable, she said.
