The first production unit of Halms Hungary’s European automotive center, currently under construction in Miskolc (northeastern Hungary), will begin operations next summer, the industrial real estate developer INPARK announced on Tuesday morning. Halms is a member of China’s Huashuo Group.
INPARK moved nearly 30,000 cubic meters of earth and used over 8,600 cubic meters of concrete and 54 kilometers of electrical wiring in the construction of the automotive center. Located in the Southern Science and Technology Park on land developed by INPARK,
the Halms facility will manufacture aluminum castings and machined components for leading automotive brands and suppliers such as Volvo and Magna.
The medium- and large-sized high-pressure aluminum castings and machined parts will be used in vehicle powertrains, transmission components, and structural applications. Only recycled aluminum will be used in production at the Miskolc plant. The investment, exceeding €200 million, will be implemented in three phases through 2032.
The 100,000-square-meter plant under construction in Miskolc will be capable of producing up to two million automotive components annually and is expected to provide employment for around 1,000 people,
writes the announcement.
Halms is not a new player in Hungary: in 2023, the company built an automotive processing plant in Debrecen (eastern Hungary), where it mainly produces engine housings and automotive components from aluminum alloys. The company’s owner, the Chinese Huashuo Group, has decided to relocate not only processing but also manufacturing operations to Hungary, establishing the group’s European headquarters and production base in Miskolc.
Halms Hungary Kft., headquartered in Debrecen, achieved net revenues of €17.318 million last year, compared with €10.015 million in 2023. The company closed last year with a loss of €3.641 million, following a loss of €2.650 million in 2023.
