Although Lake Balaton is unlikely to freeze over naturally, skating enthusiasts will not have to miss out on the experience around the lake this year. Nine artificial ice rinks are set to welcome visitors around the ‘Hungarian Sea’ this winter, with the first one having opened in mid-November.
Nemesvámos was the first to open its rink on November 15. It will be followed at the end of the month by Siófok, Balatonboglár, Fonyód, Balatonalmádi, and Zalakaros. In December, it will also be possible to skate on the ice in Balatonfüred, Keszthely, and Zamárdi, as revealed by VisitBalaton365.

At each location, skating is paired with tasty snacks, hot beverages, mulled wine, music, and a variety of programs, making the rinks not just a place for sport but a full winter experience.
The planned opening periods of the ice rinks around Lake Balaton are as follows:
- Nemesvámos: November 15, 2025 – January 15, 2026
Winter skating on the rink is accompanied by an Advent atmosphere and hot drinks. - Siófok: November 28, 2025 – February 15, 2026
In addition to the ice rink opening on the ‘Nagystrand’ beach, a winter adventure park also awaits visitors. - Fonyód – November 29, 2025 – February 22, 2026
The artificial ice rink on Vigadó Square, bathed in light, awaits guests with an Advent atmosphere and gastronomic experiences. - Balatonboglár – November 29, 2025 – February 8, 2026.
The 700-square-meter rink next to the harbor is ideal for all ages, with a wonderful panorama of Lake Balaton.
- Balatonalmádi: November 30, 2025 – February 1, 2026
On weekends in December, visitors to the Platán promenade can enjoy an Advent market and a colorful program of events. - Zalakaros: November 30, 2025 – January 30, 2026
Festive lights, mulled wine, and fun skating on the ice will enchant guests on the Karos Promenade. - Keszthely: December 6, 2025 – February 8, 2026
The rink on Energia Square is free, with skate rental, restrooms, and a weekend buffet. - Balatonfüred: December 12, 2025 – February 1, 2026.
In addition to the winding ice rink, family-friendly programs and delicious winter snacks contribute to the magical experience. - Zamárdi: December 20, 2025 – February 21, 2026
The Winter Promenade and Skating Rink opens on December 20, complemented by festive lights and programs on the shores of Lake Balaton.
