Shanghai, China
China has extended visa-free travel for Hungarian citizens by one year, whether for study, tourism or any other type of visit or cooperation, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced on Sunday.
The minister said that in response to China’s measures, Hungary will also extend the validity of the visa facilitation regulation that came into force when Beijing first announced visa-free travel for Hungarian citizens.
This means that we will continue to issue visas within 48 hours to Chinese company executives and businesspeople who come to Hungary for the purpose of developing economic and trade cooperation,”
he emphasized.
Péter Szijjártó pointed out that cooperation between the two countries gained new momentum with the Chinese president’s visit last year, which this latest announcement further reinforces.

The list of joint projects between the two countries was expanded under China’s One Belt, One Road strategy to develop East-West connectivity. The parties similarly discussed the further expansion of cooperation between BYD and Hungary.
“It is therefore good news that Hungary’s strategy is working. We are not interested in dividing the world into blocs, but in achieving global cooperation based on mutual respect and compliance with the rules,” he concluded.
