Hungarians won four gold medals at Europe’s largest vocational competition, the EuroSkills Herning 2025 championship, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) announced.
Hungarian competitors won four gold medals at EuroSkills Herning 2025, Europe’s largest professional competition. Gold medals were awarded to Kornél Stefán in software development, Olivér Mrakovics in web development, the duo of Tamás Simon and Gergő Téringer in IT systems administration, and the Industry 4.0 pair of Sándor Császi and Roland Izsó.
Among the Hungarian competitors trained with the help of the MKIK, software developer Kornél Stefán achieved the highest score, 795 points, earning the title of Best of Nation.
The Hungarian team also collected two silver and five bronze medals.
This is one of Hungary’s best performances in the history of the competition, as never before had Hungarian youth won an entire professional category, which in 2025 was the field of IT.
Silver medals were awarded to hairdresser Lajos Kovács and the industrial robotics duo Márk Liszi and Bence János Kápolnás. Bronze medals went to the mechatronics duo Ádám Fürj and Gergő Nagy, florist Henrietta Sutus, car mechanic Bence Tánczos, the landscape gardening pair Balázs Ernő Bartl and Ádám Kampel, and graphic designer Amy Anne Funnell.
In addition, medals for excellence were awarded to painter and decorative painter Gergő Németh, plumbing and heating technician Balázs Vörös, beauty therapist Eszter Hegyi, electrician Péter Losonczi, and cabinetmaker Martin Mihálicz.
At the ninth edition of the event, 589 competitors from 32 countries competed in 38 professions, spanning both cutting-edge industries and traditional crafts.
Representing Hungary, the national team selected through the WorldSkills Hungary program, organized by MKIK, participated in 21 professions with 26 young competitors.
They demonstrated their preparedness and creativity in fields ranging from automotive technology and industrial robotics to software development, hairdressing, and floristry.
Participation in the competition is not only a professional challenge but also a major source of inspiration for young people, offering opportunities to gain international experience, build networks, and showcase their dedication to their professions before a broad audience.
“We would like to thank you for the great joy you have given us,” said Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, on Sunday evening as he welcomed the Hungarian participants in the European vocational skills championship, EuroSkills 2025, at Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest.
Imre Pintér-Péntek, Vice President of the MKIK, thanked the parents, families, schools, experts, and coaches. He added that never before had Hungarian young people won so many medals at this competition.
