On September 1, the Hungarian Defense Forces began the large-scale national defense exercise “Adaptive Hussars 2025” (ADHU 25). Colonel General Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the Hungarian Defense Staff, stressed that this is one of the largest, most important, and most complex operations of the Hungarian Defense Forces .
The exercise, which also poses a challenge at the national and allied levels, will last until mid-October, reports honvedelem.hu. Over the next month and a half, mechanisms will be activated within NATO defense structures to respond to fictional scenarios. The goal is to prepare and support military tasks at the national level.
Colonel General Böröndi emphasized that, in addition to the entire Hungarian army, NATO command elements and units stationed in Hungary are also participating in the military maneuvers and movements.
In addition to professional and contract soldiers, over 2,000 reservists are also involved in the exercise. Armed forces from other NATO member states are also actively taking part.
The Hungarian Defense Forces are organizing the exercise of the armed forces of the country and, in cooperation with NATO forces and state administrative and defense authorities, are preparing to receive, supply, and transport allied troops.

In the coming weeks, central and garrison training will take place, including exercises with Lynx armored vehicles, Leopard 2A7HU battle tanks, and PzH self-propelled guns.
Live-fire exercises, marching drills, maneuvers with rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft, and parachute jumps are also planned.
Due to troop movements and equipment transfers, residents should expect increased road, rail, and air traffic as well as intense background noise. Gábor Böröndi assured that citizens will be informed of these measures in advance in any case.
