Balatonboglár’s Babel Camp (southern shore) will come alive with music from around the world as the Boglart Festival and Music Camp returns from August 27 to 30, bringing together 20 artists from Hungary and abroad—including musicians from Croatia, Chile, and Senegal.
Now in its sixth edition, Boglart is more than just a music festival. It is a unique blend of folk and world music concerts, workshops, and a music industry forum, placing a strong emphasis on learning and collaboration. This year, the festival is also expanding its family-friendly offerings, writes turizmus.com.
This year, the Promotheus team is also joining the event, presenting interactive talks and creative workshops under the themes of “community, knowledge, and transformation.” Professional childcare, led by an early education expert, ensures that even the youngest visitors are in good hands.
The diverse lineup features international names such as the Estonian-Belgian-Danish trio Alterne, Germany’s Akleja, Senegal’s Afrikora, Chilean fusion group Cimbalom Guachaca, and Croatia’s Veja.
Representing the Hungarian folk scene are groups like Pontos, Pásztorhóra, Kaptza, Ysra, Wolfolks, Trio Playadito, Rézeleje Fanfárosok, Budapest Folk Duo, Amaro Duho, Okos Viola, Obadu, Zajnal, Puli, and the Roma Big Band, which is composed of students from the Szimfolk Music Workshop in Arló (northern Hungary).

The festival will close with a performance by Góbé, the group that originally dreamed up Boglart. Late-night folk dance parties will be a highlight again this year, with Kaptza as the resident dance house band.
In the folk music camp, participants can dive into Moldavian and Gömör region melodies, with instruction often provided by members of the performing bands. This year’s novelty is a showcase event, offering local and international music professionals the chance to connect with up-and-coming ensembles.
Boglart continues to bridge tradition and innovation, turning Balatonboglár into a vibrant hub for musicians, dancers, and music lovers alike.
