Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Tusk
At the Warsaw Security Forum, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk backed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s proposal for a common European air defense shield. His words quickly gained a response from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who condemned the stance as a dangerous gamble with the lives and security of millions of Europeans.
The Polish head of government stated: “This is our war,” adding that Europe must prove that it is capable of acting independently and effectively in the face of security challenges.
The statement caused a serious stir on the continent. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a message to his Polish counterpart on social media, sharply criticizing his words.
Dear @donaldtusk,
You may think that you are at war with Russia, but Hungary is not. Neither is the European Union. You are playing a dangerous game with the lives and security of millions of Europeans. This is very bad!— Orbán Viktor (@PM_ViktorOrban) September 30, 2025

said the Viktor Orbán.
MEP Ewa Zajączkowska of Poland’s Konfederacja party also sharply criticized Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s statement that the Russian-Ukrainian war is “our war, whether anyone likes it or not,” calling it “either extreme irresponsibility or a deliberate attempt to push Poland into open armed conflict.” She argued that “jeopardizing the safety of Poles is not beneficial” and warned that “we should not be firing from Polish territory at Russian targets in Ukraine, where war is raging, as this carries a huge risk of maneuvering us into open armed conflict with Russia.”
It is Tusk’s war. Because he belongs to the liberal elite. And this is indeed their war.
But it’s not Poland’s war. Nor is it Europe’s. https://t.co/F8F4Z1ncmo— Koskovics Zoltán (@KoskovicsZ) September 29, 2025
