The world-famous New Orleans chicken brand Popeyes has officially arrived in Hungary with the opening of its first restaurant in Budapest’s Westend shopping center. Hundreds of guests attended the launch on October 16, with many lining up early in the morning to be among the first to try the brand’s iconic Cajun-seasoned Chicken Sandwich, which was delivered by helicopter in a giant box and greeted by a live jazz band on the rooftop.
Popeyes is renowned for its bold Cajun seasoning and the Chicken Sandwich that caused a major sensation in the United States in 2019. At the Budapest opening, guests had the opportunity to taste this legendary product, Turizmus.com reports. The chicken is marinated for at least 12 hours in a distinctive spice blend, then hand-breaded and fried until golden brown.
“We are extremely proud to have brought this iconic brand to Hungary and to have opened our first restaurant in Westend. The incredible energy and enthusiasm on the opening day proved that Hungarian guests are also ready to love Popeyes chicken just like our fans around the world.
This is just the beginning – we cannot wait to expand further in Hungary,”
Popeyes’ press release quoted László Sümegi, Managing Director of Fusion-BP Restaurants Kft.
The opening is part of Popeyes’ rapid European expansion, which recently saw the brand enter Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Romania, France, Poland, and the Czech Republic. In Hungary, Popeyes is exclusively developed and operated by Fusion-BP Restaurants Kft., which is 100% owned by The Fusion Group Zrt. – a company with over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
