From September 30, the United States will lift visa waiver program restrictions for all Hungarian citizens, which is another significant achievement since President Donald Trump took office, announced Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, on Tuesday in Budapest.
The minister stated that former US President Joe Biden and his administration viewed Hungary as an enemy, and bilateral relations had reached a low point, but with Donald Trump’s victory, the situation changed radically, and since then, a golden age has dawned in relations between the two countries.
The Biden administration made it extremely difficult for Hungarian citizens to travel to the United States, but now that is over. Following consultations between the two governments, all Hungarian citizens will be reinstated in the US visa waiver program as of September 30.”
“This means that Hungarian citizens can once again travel to the United States without a visa. From September 30, ESTA will again be valid for two years and will allow all Hungarian citizens to enter the country multiple times during that period,” he said.

The Visa Waiver program applies to all Hungarians, regardless of their place of birth.
Péter Szijjártó emphasized that this is another significant achievement since Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, in addition to the surge in US investment in Hungary and the lifting of political sanctions.
“Cooperation is no longer about hostility and lecturing, but about friendship, mutual respect, and effective cooperation,” he said.
